Upon hearing “Fall” it’s no question that the UK band Cheatahs are trying to emulate the sound that Kevin Shield and his My Bloody Valentine invented. We suspect that Cheatahs are only one of many bands that are likely to emerge in the wake of MBV’s resurrection. But what’s important to realize is that melody and ideas are the basis of any song, regardless of sound engineering, recording procedure or genre imitation.
Cheatahs has all this figured with “Fall”. At the core, it’s a sober track with some truly melodious and solid songwriting that doesn’t solely rely on fizzing guitars and washed-out production. Listen to “Fall” below and watch the video for their phenomenal single “The Swan” from their EP, aptly titled Extended Play.
