Wild Swim might still be in the process of figuring things out, but they never before sounded so distinct and confident as on third single, “New Daw”. It’s a fitting title, since the band largely break from the The xx vs. Wild Beasts sound of “Another Night”, to deliver a prog-flavored chamber-pop that is considerably more far-reaching and vibrant than anything they released beforehand. Filled with delicate piano chords, electric guitars and a full-blown soundscape that moves in a semi-waltz-ish tempo, the Oxford five-piece has just brought us their finest track to date.
Wild Swim is currently recording their debut album with Steve Osborne on the handles (Suede, Elbow, Doves). The record should see the light of day sometimes next year. “New Dawn” is out 21st of October.
