The Indiana trio’s latest release is a complete sea change for a band that spent the last couple of years crafting a sturdy blend of surf rock and sun soaked psychedelica. Pouring with fuzzy tones and echoing vocals, “Prediction” hits much harder than anything the band has created beforehand. With that said, it’s hard to ignore the Tame Impala influences that are on display here, even if exhaustive comparisons ought to be avoided. Even so, “Prediction” puts Triptides on display as an interested band going forward, with their first ever full-length vinyl release just around the corner. Predictions starts shipping November 4 via the British label Stroll On Records.
