“I’m Not Part Of Me”, is taken from Cloud Nothings upcoming follow-up to 2012’s brilliant Attack on Memory. The album, titled Here and Nowhere Else, is scheduled for release March 30 in Europe and on the following day in the U.S.
Regarding the new album, founder and singer Dylan Baldi told that “I was feeling pretty good about everything so I just made stuff that made me happy. I had nothing to be angry about really so the approach was more positive and less fuck everything”. John Congleton (The Walkmen, Modest Mouse, Swans, St.Vincent and countless others) produced the album that reportedly is more subtle and not as in-your-face as Attack on Memory. “I’m Not Part Of Me” paints a fitting picture, as it’s less penetrating than most of Attack’s acmes, while also being packed with more hooks than you’d think could be possibly to fit in four short minutes. This is a testimony of Dylan Balid’s confidence, and one hell of a first single. And as far as melodious punk-pop goes, Cloud Nothings stay unmatched.
