Hydras Dream is, on paper, the unlikely partnership between renowned movie score composer Matti Bye (Faro, The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climed Out the Window and Disappeared) and Swedish songstress Anna von Hausswolff. In reality, their combined aesthetics works as a haunting and highly unorthodox experience. “Hypothermia”, which is a condition when the body’s core temperature drops below that is required for normal metabolism and body functions, is made of the ghostliest of elements; cold, nocturnal synth pads, strange and detached vocals and cinematic sound effects that, combined convey a cold and forsaken melancholy, which makes a good case for its title.
“Hypothermia” is set to appear on The Little Match Girl, a musical reconstruction of the H.C Andersen story with the same title. The duo spoke of their inspiration; “‘It was her tragic faith in the winter’s cold that inspired us. She is freezing to death with no money and no comfort, she is all alone, dreaming of a warmer place. When death strikes her she is filled with magical illusions and dreams. Oddly enough, hypothermia and death are the only two comfort zones we experience in this story. Sad but beautiful.”

The Little Match Girl will be released in March via Berlin label Denovali Records
