The newest offering from Canadian outfit Timber Timbre is titled “Curtains!?” and follows the smoky slow-dance of ”Hot Dreams” that in many ways was the most romantic and beautiful songs they’ve released to date. The atypically energetic and rocking “Curtains?!” evokes a curious blend of Edwyn Collins, German krautrockers Can and a drop of Morricone and David Lynch. As I already mentioned, their opaque 2012 Polaris Music Prize nominee Creep On Creepin’ On didn’t suite my taste as much as the scaled-down straightforwardness of their early material. But these two new releases seems to nicely bridge the beautiful melodies of their early albums with the eeriness of the much more production-focused Creep On Creepin On. Hot Dreams is out March 31 via Full Time Hobby and April 1 via Arts & Crafts.
