Solomon Grey – Glas/Green

Uk/Australian duo Solomon Grey makes music in two disparate categories.  Their former A-sides, “Gen V” and “Firechild”, works as relatively up-tempo synth-pop tracks, but it’s the soaring ambience of the B-sides that so far caught my attention. “Gascarene Sound” and “Last Century Man” were two lovely examples of why the duo is Black Butter Records most promising act. And yesterday, they offered another suggestive and atmospheric piece of brilliance. “Glas/Green” is perhaps their most escapist work to date; pulling you in with a catharsis-seeking sentiment that builds steady until full cinematic release. For someone who had a couple of rough curveballs thrown at him lately, “Glass/Green” helps to gain some brief relief. And after all, isn’t that what all great music should be able to do?

“Gass/Green” is the leading track of The Dathanna EP.  Available for free download here.
